Practiced principally in Criminal Law, particularly in terrorism (to include explosives and firearms) and sexual offence type cases.
When appointed to the High Court, sat as a judge of the Central Criminal Court presiding over jury trials relating to murder and rape offences. Also appointed to the non-jury Special Criminal Court, where terrorism and organised crime cases are dealt with.
Since becoming a Court of Appeal judge, has sat principally on the criminal side of the appeal court hearing appeals from criminal convictions and sentences from the Central Criminal Court, the Special Criminal Court and the Circuit Court.
